Week Four – Six

Week Four

With each week that passes, I feel that I become a more valued and useful member of the staff at the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia. I am able to prove my abilities to lead groups of volunteers in tasks such as fresh bread sorting, and sort and salvage packaging. This week I was able to attend a staff meeting, and contributed ideas towards team building to help bridge the gap between the office staff and the warehouse staff. I also had the opportunity to assist other departments, rather than only assist the volunteer department as I have the past three weeks. I was able to assist the Grants Manager, Jenna Vaisvil, by entering fundraising data into excel, as well as assist the reception desk by entering volunteer data.

Week Five

During my fifth week interning with the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia, I was able to continue improving my leadership skills and execute programs properly without being instructed to do so by a volunteer coordinator. This week I was given yet another big responsibility by the Volunteer Manager, Arya Aghdasi. I was placed in charge of pulling the Rabun County Food 2 Kids order. Pulling an order takes focus, organization, and great leadership skills when involving volunteers. When pulling orders, the correct amount of designated products must be accounted for to ensure the children served by Rabun County Food Bank have all of the food they need for the weekend. The photo above the heading “Week Five,” shows the completed order, initialed by myself and the Volunteer Manager.
