Investigating the Influence of Cultural Aspects on Aging for Older Adults in Japan

This literature review was written for the purposes of my study abroad trip to Japan. It explores the literature surrounding the effects of culturally based attitudes and beliefs, dietary, exercise, and hygienic habits. It was found that Japanese attitudes and beliefs, and some hygienic habits can positively influence aging in the older population. To view the entire document, please click the button blow! An Analysis of the Socioecological Model and Factors Influencing Post Secondary Education Attainment

As a portion of a research-based course, I was asked to research potential inequities experienced by an Athens-Clarke County population located in Georgia. I decided to focus on potential collegiate attendance inequity among high school students. To reflect on why high school students in the area may choose not to attend college, different influential factors were evaluated based on levels described in the socioecological model. The results from the analysis showed individual level factors such as self efficacy, racial identity, and engagement in risky behaviors are primary predictors. Investigating the Effectiveness of Animal Assisted Therapy for Children with Mental Disabilities in the U.S. and U.K.

Use of animal-assisted therapy as a form of treatment has become more popular over time and can be used to assist those with a variety of health issues. After performing a review of the literature in regard to the effectiveness of animal assisted therapy for children with mental disabilities, it was found that animal-assisted therapy can have a positive impact on social behavioral skills, motor skills, and cognitive skills.
